Individual Counseling Sessions

Individual sessions provide a contained space to discover underlying patterns and obstacles that block experiences of ease and connection in one's life. We may explore these through traditional talk therapy infused with mindful awareness of the body, or through more experiential means such as artwork, games, creative externalization of different parts of the psyche, visualizations, etc. Nature-based psychotherapy offers an additional method of deepening into self-knowledge through reflecting on metaphors and experiences in the natural world, and can be incorporated whether outside the office or within. Both Matt and Caitlin practice

trauma-informed counseling, monitoring and supporting nervous system regulation as necessary throughout sessions to prioritize overall emotional and psychological safety.

Individual sessions are available for children, adolescents, and adults, and are typically offered in 50 minute slots.

Child Sessions:

Adult sessions often involve working with child and adolescent parts of ourselves, however, working directly with children typically looks a little different. Children naturally operate from a place of imagination and play (an important way of being that adults often forget how to access!) – these are the vehicles they use to understand, learn, and navigate the world and their place within it. Thus, the foundation of a child session is building relationship, self-concepts, and growth through this lens. Similar to adult and adolescent sessions, time spent with a child in therapy may involve games, exploring the outside world together, and artistic expression, but will more frequently involve toys, sandtray, and constructing mythical adventures (Hero’s Journey work) than is likely to take place in a session with older adolescents and adults. Additionally, sessions may integrate parental engagement and coaching as necessary and appropriate to support the child; please note that this is not the same as family therapy given that the focus of the session is primarily on the child’s process, not treating the functioning of the family system as a whole.

Therapeutic Groups

Therapeutic groups provide the opportunity to grow in and through the presence of others in a supported, semi-structured environment. Revolving around a particular theme (such as social skills, connection to self, body image, etc.), groups aim to engage, educate, and facilitate relationship – offering a chance to gain insight into who we are in the world and rewrite long-held patterning.

There are no groups presently being offered. Check back soon for details on our therapeutic role playing group.
